shaping
attractive and tactile
Different shaping technologies can transform packages into designer products, creating unique and individual packaging highlights. Shaped containers can be easier to hold and are used for a great variety of applications from paint cans to fruit syrups:
- mechanical shaping
An expansion tool which has the shape of the final can geometry is used to open and shape the can from the inside. - blow forming
A can pre-form is placed in a precision engineered mould which is then blow-formed using pressurized air to create the desired shape. - hydro-forming
This technique is similar to blow-forming, but uses water instead of air - specialised production
Innovative shapes can also be created for products, such as lubricating oils, by conventional production lines which are designed to form and seam distinctive shapes from pre-cut blanks.
The creation of unique shapes using specialised tools provides a useful weapon in the fight against counterfeiting.
